And for this reason we say the Gospel according to Mathew, or according to Mark, or according to Luke, or according to John. The first Gospel was written by Mathew to convince the Jews that Jesus Christ is the expected Messiah, who brings the kingdom of God to men. This Gospel presents Jesus Christ not only the Divine Savior of the entire world, but also the Almighty Redeemer who is the only begotten Son of God. Luke addresses in his Gospel the Gentiles, as well as the Jews. The fourth Gospel was written by John, the beloved. This Gospel shows that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and believing in Him gives everlasting life. John gives the Jews the proof that Jesus is the promised Old Testament Messiah and he (John), addresses in his Gospel, the Jews and the Gentiles. In short, each of the evangelists focussed on a certain corner of Jesus’ life with more details than the others, but the essence is one.

When he could no longer be safely concealed, she put him in an ark of bulrushes, placed him at the river’s edge, and put his sister (Miriam) on watch. Miriam, the sister of Moses, and on seeing that her brother was found, approached and asked Pharoah’s daughter who found the child, if she could call a nurse from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child. The princess agreed with certain instruction, and Miriam brought Moses back to his mother to nurse him and he was saved from death.” Miriam, on the other hand, was a prophetess, but she was stricken with leprosy for speaking against Moses during the wilderness wanderings; because she was unhappy with her role and jealous of Moses. Jochebed and Miriam obeyed God more than Pharoah and could save Moses from death, and he delivered his people out of Egypt.

The life story of Naomi and Ruth shows us how God changes a bitter life into a pleasant one, through the life of another person. When famine spread in Judah; Naomi, her husband and their two sons moved to Moab. The sons took for themselves Moabite women as wives after the death of the father, but the wives could not give birth to children. After the death of her husband and the two sons; Naomi became desperate and changed her name to Mara (bitter) and returned to Bethlehem after about ten years, accompanied by her faithful daughter-in-law Ruth. Ruth, the loyal daughter-in-law of Naomi, could change the bitterness in Naomi’s life into happiness. And because of her loyalty and good qualifications, she was rewarded by her marriage to Boaz, Naomi’s relative, and the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son and they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David. Ruth’s name is always associated with the book which carries her name in the Bible, the Book of Ruth.
